As a North Carolinian who identifies with the Native American community, Dominecha Crenshaw knows the importance of finding community away from home. By joining student organizations her undergraduate years, she was able to meet other Native American students on campus and participate in campus Pow Wow’s and other cultural events.

During her freshman year she participated in volunteer recovery efforts in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria during spring break. She learned how vital global experiences, like those offered at ECU, can enrich a student’s undergraduate experience.

She enjoys the school spirit at ECU and the various opportunities to participate in clubs and sports. When asked if there was anything she would tell an incoming freshman she didn’t hesitate to say “Don’t be intimidated by the size of ECU. Once you visit campus, you will see how walkable the campus is and how friendly the people are”.

In her free time, she enjoys playing with her 100+ pound fur baby, Lily, a harlequin Great Dane.
