Security & Transportation

One of ECU’s most important priorities is making sure you and your classmates live and learn in a safe and healthy environment (plus, we need to get you to and from where you need to be). The following organizations are dedicated to that mission:

ECU Transit

ECU Transit is a free service for all students, staff and faculty. Serving as the primary provider of transportation services to the ECU community, ECU Transit offers a wide variety of travel options on our comprehensive system, which provides more than 2.5 million rides a year with service on and off campus. The ECU Transit system can connect students with off-campus housing, shopping and dining throughout Greenville.

ECU Police

The mission of the ECU Police Department is to assist students, staff, faculty, and visitors in maintaining a safe environment, and to enhance the quality of life at East Carolina University. The campus safety division, housed in the ECU Police Department, promotes a safe environment at East Carolina through awareness and educational programs. ECU uses state-of-the-art security and safety technology to enhance its efforts.

Annual Security Report

ECU’s Annual Security Report (PDF) is available to download online or in hard-copy by request at the ECU Police Department. This report, required of all universities by federal law, provides crime statistics for the previous three years and includes certain ECU policies concerning campus security (such as policies regarding sexual assault, alcohol and other drugs).
