Julie Stonier , Admissions Counselor
Julie Stonier is an admissions counselor from southeast Virginia who brings a passion for student support, leadership, and campus involvement to her role at ECU. She earned her degree in Communication Studies from Christopher Newport University, with minors in Leadership and Digital Humanities. As an undergraduate student, she took on leadership roles across campus, participated in both social and service Greek life, and worked in recreational services as a fitness instructor and social media manager.
After graduation, Julie completed a fellowship in an admissions office, where she discovered her passion for helping students find their home away from home. As a first-generation college student and military kid, she understands how challenging the college search process can feel. That experience inspired her to continue working in admissions and helping students feel prepared, supported, and confident as they take their next steps.
When Julie thinks of ECU, two words come to mind: community and opportunity. “Students have countless paths to discover what they’re truly passionate about, all while being supported by faculty, staff, and peers,” she said. Julie is excited to be part of a campus that emphasizes academic growth, hands-on learning, leadership, and service, helping students grow in meaningful ways both inside and outside the classroom.
When not helping future Pirates, you might find Julie catching up with friends over an iced coffee, spending time outdoors, taking cycle classes, cheering on the Washington Capitals, or getting creative with crafting and DIY projects.
