A native of Sumter, South Carolina, Nancy Reading found her calling in higher education as an undergraduate student ambassador and graduate assistant in admissions. While pursuing a master’s in school psychology, she discovered her true passion for guiding students through the college search process and helping them find their path forward.

With over a decade of experience—including work in dual enrollment programs and college access initiatives—Nancy has seen firsthand how education transforms lives, not just for students but for their families and communities.

In her role at ECU, she is excited to expand the university’s reach across North Carolina and beyond. “ECU offers all the opportunities of a large research university with the personal support of a smaller school,” she says. “It’s a welcoming place where Pirates help Pirates succeed.”

An active volunteer with the Carolinas Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (CACRAO), Nancy has helped modernize college fairs to make them more accessible for students across the Carolinas. Outside of work, she enjoys community theater and serves as a chapter advisory board member for Kappa Delta sorority.
